MEMORY CAFE' - Something quite special this week!!! Storytelling

To Support everyone during this challenging time, we have taken our Monthly Memory Cafe - ONLINE and we have expanded them to a weekly format!  Each Thursday we are joining together, from noon to 2pm, (come when you can, stay as long as you are able!) via ZOOM to support each other, make new friends, learn more important coping skills and approaches, engage with our loved one in a positive and enjoyable experience, and have some fun and laughter!

Last week was our 3rd get-together and WE HAD 10 FOLKS JOIN US!!!  IT WAS WONDERFUL SEEING YOU ALL!  The participants last week suggested some books they had found particularly helpful during their experiences and wanted to recommend them to others. Here is that list:

The End of Alzheimer's by Dr. Dale E. Bredesen

Untangling Alzheimer's: The Guide for Families and Professionals by Tam Cummings

My Stroke of Insight by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor

I hope you will join us!  **If you need any assistance getting your computer or phone setup to join a ZOOM Gathering, PLEASE call me directly and I will walk you through it.  630-668-0850  (it is really easy!) This week's Cafe is going to be something very special!!

Topic: Memory Cafe - Storytelling: Tales from Quarantine!
Storytelling! Legends, Myths and Tales of Quarantine - Costumes (or at least crazy hats are encouraged!) come with a Tale to tell about your Quarantine experiences!

Memory Cafe’s exist to support Caregivers and Families living with the challenges of ADRD. Their lives are filled with the stories of before, and during. This new experience of Quarantine is creating a whole new collection of personal stories.

Storytelling is a part of what makes us human. How we tell our stories shapes our culture and profoundly affects how we understand ourselves and each other, and engage with the world around us. So this coming week, we are going to share our stories!

We will be joined by James Jeske, Librarian and Professional Storyteller from San Francisco! James will be telling “Joseph The Tailor” a Sid Lieberman story, which is ALL about stories and making “something out of nothing”.
